Mary Help of Christians Parish, Thirukazhukundram
Foundations and Growth
Our journey of faith in Thirukazhukundram began in the 1970s as a humble gathering of families from Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, and Nagercoil. What started with a few pioneers meeting in private homes transformed through the years—from the first small chapel at the foot of the hill to the “mighty Church” we celebrate today. Guided by the Salesians of Don Bosco and the Diocese of Chengalpattu, our history is a testament to the dedication of those who labored to build a permanent spiritual home for our community.
Today, we stand as a united family of 155 households, rooted in the maternal protection of our patroness, Mary Help of Christians. From our central parish to our vibrant substations in Echur, Pulikundram, Mananmadhi, Nerumbur, and Edaiyur, we continue to grow in spirit and service. We honor our past with gratitude and look forward to the future with hope, committed to walking together in faith and spreading God’s love to every corner of our mission.
